紀錄片Burn With Us係咪鬼?

拍攝理大之戰的美國紀錄片Burn With Us上架Vimeo兩周,反應兩極,連登有人出Post說「一堆暴力影像剪堆一齊,無解釋無敘事,極少警暴畫面xx( 段片完全唔講抗爭者既理念,前因後果」。理大一戰我心理創傷不輕,重看這段歷史,我要花上兩天,否則心臟負荷不了。看畢,我沒有覺得紀錄片很出色,但我並不能同意連登(捉鬼的)說法。

紀錄片有千百種拍法,所謂的觀察型紀錄片(Observational Documentary),導演像「牆壁上的蒼蠅」(fly on the wall),他們不作旁述(VO/訪問/解說),只作觀察。Burn With Us交代過他們有訪問示威者,但片中也沒剪出任何訪問畫面及聲音內容,只以文字記述。風格和取態上,他盡量保持一種旁觀,第三者的觀點。而看畢全片,電影根本沒有Misinformation、假新聞,或任何不切的引導。你不能因為他沒有滿足你的期待而攻擊製作團隊是鬼。六四後,著名紀錄片《天安門》更對學生領袖柴玲有負面描述,那又怎樣呢?它真實,它還是一樣重要。

如果要攻擊紀錄片沒有拍攝到警暴,其實是有的,但嚴重的攝製隊根本拍不到,他們用了一個補救方法,在熒幕(Monitor)前翻攝了新聞片段。這明顯是因為攝製團隊人手不足,而如果要跟電視台談版權費用很貴,這樣「借用」後,影片不能謀利,只能免費公開。(梁思眾拍的《傘上》也是近觀察型的,沒有旁述,沒有怎講前因後果,而且因為很多片段是當時他替各電視台工作拍下的,可以使用,但不能收取門票等費用)

看到紀錄片用英文解釋「手足」,我還是差點哭了:

Protestors call each other “hands and feet”. It refers to them as one body. So if the hands and feet of a protestor are injured others will feel their pain.

當一個人很敏感,沒有信心,情緒不穩,就會疑神疑鬼,常認為人家在踩低自己。別這樣。即使批評,只要跟據事實也是良好的。把心臟練能大一些,

我就看過有人說製作的是鬼,為甚麼?因為拍攝的叫Cockroach Studio,「仲唔係講緊我?」我就不明白如果人家叫自己做Cockroach,為甚麼會傷害到你。Cockroach Studio的網站寫得很清楚,他們2015年成立,叫曱甴,是因為「曱甴很強大,他們像水一樣流動(Be Water?),像火一樣延燒,而且是離奇地復原力驚人,在地球上已生存了三億年。」自己讀:

In most of the world cockroaches are considered a low, dirty form of life. They flow like water, spread like fire and are ridiculously resilient creatures which have been around over 300,000,000 years. They are not particularly pretty things and cause a lot of panic when you find them in your home. When we started making films back in 2015, we felt a certain kinship with the little guys. In an industry focused primarily on the pristine and the beautiful, we are rough around the edges. We are everywhere. We survive. We are more concerned with the edges of society. We use images to shed light on dark places people don’t often look.

別花時間捉鬼了,捉下邊個未登記選民好不好?
